WHAT IS EUCHARISTIC ADORATION?
Simply put, Eucharistic Adoration is an opportunity for the faithful to pray to Jesus Christ before the Eucharist. A consecrated host, the Eucharist is placed in a monstrance. The monstrance is the item that exposes and displays the Eucharist for those who come to adore Jesus and to see it. The monstrance often has a sunburst design or shape. The host is placed in a smaller vessel called the luna, a glass holder, held in the monstrance. Eucharistic Adoration, is usually an hour or longer, some parishes have what is called perpetual adoration where parishioners take turns for an hour each to be with Jesus. This happens 24, 7 in those parishes with perpetual adoration. During Adoration there is time for private and communal prayer, scripture, music, writing in one’s prayer journal, spiritual reading, talking to Jesus. We, who seek to know Jesus, have a personal relationship with Him, grow more deeply in love with Him, are the FAITHFUL. You are invited to learn more and experience this beautiful opportunity of encounter with Our Lord, as we announce soon, the opportunities with dates, times, and places in our community over the next year. A reminder that Eucharistic Adoration takes place every Wednesday evening at Sacred Heart 5-6 p.m.
